Anand Patel, MD

Anand Patel, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the section of Hematology-Oncology at the University of Chicago. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for medical school, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at Northwestern University. Dr. Patel attended the University of Chicago for hematology-oncology fellowship where he also served as chief fellow.

Dr. Patel treats patients with myeloproliferative diseases, myelodysplastic syndromes, and leukemias. He also serves as the director of the inpatient leukemia service at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Patel’s research interests include the development of clinical trials for patients with high-risk myeloid malignancies. He is also a member of the Clinical Problem Solvers, a multi-institution collaborative network of trainees and faculty focused on clinical reasoning. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, such as Blood, Blood Advances, British Journal of Haematology, Cancer, JCI Insight and Bone Marrow Transplantation. Honors include receiving an American Society of Hematology (ASH) Abstract Achivement Award in 2020 and participating in the ASH Clinical Research Training Institute (CRTI) in the 2021-2022 academic year.
